We visited Ben's mother over Thanksgiving and had a lovely time. The day after Thanksgiving we took an outing to a really neat cluster of antique shops. One of the treasures we came across was a gorgeous antique nativity set. My mother-in-law bought it for us as a Christmas present! Some of the paint was peeling off a few of the figurines, so my mother-in-law told us that she'd restore it for us herself and give it to us as a Christmas gift. When we arrived at her house on Christmas Eve, I nearly cried when I saw it. It is stunning, isn't it? She did an amazing job, and our family feels so blessed to now have a nativity set with such a beautiful story behind it that can be passed down the family tree.
One of the things that was missing from the nativity set was the manger for the baby Jesus. My mother-in-law went to a store looking for one, and when she told the woman behind the desk what it was for, the woman said "take it for free...after all, it's to cradle Our Lord!" I love it. Such love and effort have gone into the making of our family's nativity set. What a lovely gift. Thank you, Christine. Thank you so, so, much.

The nativity set is beautiful! It looks very much like the one we grew up with...I'll have to take a closer look next time I'm at my parents house!
Well, that story has me crying. What a blessing!
She did and amazing job. I can't wait to see it in person, pictures just don't do most thinks justice.
