A Little Slice of Heaven - Sister Louise Marie's Vows

Yesterday was the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Ben took the day off from work, and we were cordially invited to witness Sister Louise Marie take her vows. Ben and I agreed that this High Mass in the Tridentine Rite was the most beautiful and ornate Mass we had ever attended. The day was truly glorious - from the vestments, to the sacred polyphany, to her mother's wedding dress which Sister wore proudly, to her father's expression as he walked her down the aisle, to the vows themselves which were sacred poetry in and of themselves...we will truly remember this day for the rest of our lives.

We succeeded in not only getting the kids (and ourselves) all dressed up, but we even succeeded in snapping some photos of them, smiling to boot! (Families with multiple children will understand what a triumph this is!)

Since Sister is becoming a Bride of Christ, it is traditional for her to wear a wedding dress. She chose to wore her mother's wedding dress. It's beautiful, isn't it?  From 9:30-11:00, Sister received friends and family members in her wedding dress. How wonderful it is for little girls to witness such a thing, when most young girls are only accustomed to seeing weddings!

The vestments and reverence were simply amazing...

It was hard not to shed tears of joy as her father proudly walked her down the aisle...

About halfway through the ceremony, Sister is handed her black habit and goes to change from her wedding dress into the habit...

Ben and Adrian with Sister Louise Marie...

And just like any wedding, there was a lovely reception with delicious food (and even leftovers to take home!)

And what a treat it was for me that Adrian slept soundly the entire time, allowing me to converse with adults!

The older children enjoyed playing in the apple trees (see Leo climbing?)  and Ben commented how he had climbed that very same apple tree as a young boy!

We had a beautiful, glorious, day. God Bless Sister Louise Marie!
