Yesterday my mother (a.k.a. "Grandma Jeannie") was kind enough to host a birthday party for little Leo. Leo's 1st birthday isn't until September 25th, but we decided to have a party 5 days earlier since it worked better for everyone (and, well, we figured he wasn't old enough to notice!) My mother made a beautiful cake using peach baby food as a substitute for eggs (since I have been so violently allergic to eggs and nuts since birth, we've held off on introducing those foods to Leo until he's old enough to be tested).
In attendance was Grandma Jeannie, Ben, me, Ben's sister Josie and her boyfriend Andrew, Ben's father Peter (a.k.a. "Grampy"), and of course the birthday boy himself who was battling a cold.
Below is picture of Peter and Josie:
Leo looked a bit confused as we gathered around to sing him "Happy Birthday," but he seemed to enjoy the attention...
I had the honor of cutting the cake...

When we were all done eating, Grandma Jeannie offered to take Leo to the playground across the street from her house while Ben, Peter, Josie, Andrew and I played the popular board game Apples to Apples. This has become a family tradition of ours at get-togethers. We always enjoy some good laughs while playing.
My mother also enjoyed showing us her new home office. I was so impressed by her decorating skills that I couldn't not include a picture!
Leo received many gifts at his 1st birthday party - a toy dump truck, some books, a stuffed lion, a t-shirt, a pumpkin bib, a toy chest, and some sensory balls from his Great Grandmother "GG," which you can see him playing with in the photograph below...

It was a wonderful party. We'd like to thank Grandma Jeannie for being such a wonderful hostess, and all the guests for helping the party be so memorable.

Happy Birthday Leo. Looks like you had a wonderful Birthday Party. James has one of those sensory balls. Maybe you can play with it the next time you come over.
Happy almost-birthday to Leo!
