Total Miracle

This evening I received a very scary phone call that my husband had been in a car accident and that his car had been totaled. We are thanking God tonight that he was able to walk away from the accident completely unharmed. Ben was driving home from work on the highway in the left lane. He noticed a truck coming up behind him. Then the truck obnoxiously and dangerously began tailgating Ben close enough to the point where Ben thought "I need to get out of this lane." But there were other cars in the right lane, so he waited for them to pass. Apparently this was too slow for the impatient truck driver. When Ben finally passed into the right lane (once the cars had gone ahead of him), the truck driver purposefully and aggressively side-rammed Ben on the driver's side. The impact immediately took off Ben's side mirror and left a huge wheel mark from the truck on Ben's driver-side door. (see image below)

As a result of the impact, Ben's car spun all the way around (so he was facing the opposite direction on the highway), and slammed into the rail on the side of the highway. AND THE DRIVER DROVE AWAY! Yes, it was a hit and run. Unbelievable. Ben says that from the looks of the accident, the truck driver is probably wondering if Ben is even alive right now.

Ben contacted the police, and they came to the scene. A tow company towed the car to a local lot which is where Leo and I picked up Ben about an hour ago. We were able to salvage our personal belongings from the car. We will go back tomorrow to pick up the license plates.

We contacted our insurance company, and an investigation is underway. Since the accident was a hit and run, they want us to pay the $500 deductible which we're going to dispute. Please pray that our insurance company offers us not only enough money to pay off the car, but enough to purchase a safe and reliable vehicle for Ben.

We are all still in a bit of shock right now. We are thanking God and Ben's guardian angel for keeping him safe.

Boy Rebecca, I'm so glad Ben is safe. I hope you guys find the driver. Guardian Angels are the best.

Praise be to God that Ben is okay! That was an outright assault! Ben's guardian angel was looking out for him yesterday.

Rebecca, I'm so happy that Ben is fine. I pray the other driver is attacked mercilessly by his own conscience and others will come forward to help in finding him.

Yikes!-I've spun out myself & its the most powerless feeling in the world (since you could easily end up facing traffic & be looking at another impact head-on!)

Glad Ben is OK-so sorry this happened to you guys. Hopefully that truck driver will do some penance at a truck stop somewhere sometime.

St Christopher must've been in the passenger's seat.(my Dad used to have a St Chris. statue stuck on the dashboard back in the 60's when dashboards were still solid steeel!)

I hope insurance and all comes out with the best settlement possible. Be SURE to challenge the claim if it doesnt seem right-you always have that right with ANY insurance claim & if its still not OK theres an Insurance Commissioner to appeal to,etc.
We don't want Leo being driven aroung in a 2nd-hand Beetle with 200,000 miles on it & holes in the floor.

Rebecca, I totally sympathize. When someone stole my still fairly new car, crashed into someone else then fled the scene, I had to pay the $500 deductible too (because, as they said, "SOMEONE has to pay" ?!?!).

And they only reimbursed the blue book value of the car, not all of what I owed was covered. So I continued to pay for a car that I no longer drove! This guy had sent the man he hit to the hospital on life support! I am SO thankful that Ben only got a terrible scare and nothing else!
