Today I had my routine monthly appointment with my midwife. Above is a picture of the room I go to for my examinations - cozy isn't it?
I am now 18 weeks pregnant. Everything looks good. The baby has a steady and powerful heart rate of 140 bpm. One of the neat things about going to the same midwife again is that she can compare my current chart to my previous pregnancy chart.
Thus far, both pregnancies have been similar in that I've experienced acute morning sickness well past 12 weeks. With Leo, I experienced the morning sickness throughout my entire pregnancy, but it got better around 16 weeks. With this pregnancy, at 18 weeks, I am still experiencing pretty acute morning sickness.
I guess it came as no surprise then when I learned today that at 18 weeks pregnant I've only gained 9 lbs! At this point in my pregnancy with Leo, I had already gained 20!
Overall, this pregnancy seems very similar to my first. I am grateful that the baby appears to be healthy and active, and I'm happy to be nearly halfway through.
Below are some pictures I found on a website of a baby in utero between 18-19 weeks. Life is so precious. What a miracle.

Smaller & more morning sickness . . . did Leo want a sister? :)
Only time will tell :-)
It is such a miracle! My midwife's exam room is also very cozy and charming. It's so fun.
Absolutely miraculous! For me, more morning sickness and smaller did mean a girl. :)
