Copying Mommy

Lately Leo has entered a new phase of development where he loves to copy his mommy. In the pictures below, you can see him in a cubby-hole in the playroom reading a book to his toy lion. *Click on pictures to enlarge them!

Here he is trying on mommy's high heels...

When Jules was born, Ben bought Leo his very own baby doll so he could practice being gentle with 'his baby.' Leo is very protective of his baby, and carries *her* (they only sold girl baby dolls at Target) around with him. He even gives his baby kisses, puts his baby in the baby swing and in Jules' car seat. It's very darling...

But perhaps my favorite thing Leo does these days is wander around the house having 'conversations' on a make-believe 'telephone.' The only thing I can think of is that Leo must have observed me talking to friends and colleagues over the phone throughout the day and is trying to copy me. He will pick up any object that even remotely looks like a phone, will put it up to his ear, and have conversations with an imaginary person on the other end. After days of trying to get it on tape, I finally did! (See video below)

LOL Ben does the same thing with the phone. His favorite "phone" for some weird reason is the 4 from a number puzzle he has.

So cute! I love the whisk. Yes, 1-1/2 is a highly imitative age. Capitalize on it!
