Grace's Wedding

Last weekend we attended the most beautiful wedding. Grace, the youngest of Ben's Great Aunt Gloria's 13 children (no, not a typo), was married at St. Leo's Church. As many of you know, St. Leo's Church is also where Ben and I were married. So it was extra special for us to attend a wedding there since we couldn't help but recall taking the same vows ourselves 5 years ago before the same altar. Fernando, Grace's husband, is very nice. We were all happy to welcome him to the family.

One of the neat things about this wedding was that everyone on the altar were family members - Grace's brother, a priest, married them. Concelebrating was another brother of Grace's (also a priest), assisted by 2 of her other brothers who are Brothers in a local religious order. The altar boys were all grandsons of Gloria and Charlie. At one point I couldn't help but think to myself how proud Gloria and Charlie must have been to see so many of their children up there...their son, a priest, marrying their daughter. How beautiful. I was reminded that my children won't be little forever, and that perhaps one day I might be able to sit in a Church pew before God, marveling at my offspring instead of disciplining them in the vestibule and making sure they sit still! (Something that is hard for me to believe at this stage of motherhood!)

The reception was at Dan's house (another one of Grace's brothers) who lives locally. It was so comfortable! The tent was heated, and it was so welcoming.

Leo loved jumping on the trampoline in the yard and dancing.

May I have this dance?

Congratulations to Grace and Fernando! May God continue to bless you all the days of your lives.

My, my, I am totally crying at your description of all those grown children at the altar. I don't know what it must be like for those parents--overwhelmed with joy?!

Gloria and I go way back to praying outside Planned Parenthood Boston. I still see her at the Abbey once in awhile as she breezes through. She always carries a fact sheet with updated news on her amazing brood.
