House Update

The house has now been on the market for over 6 months. We have switched realtors and have laid out a more aggressive strategy for selling the house. Lately my days have consisted of getting both boys ready in the morning, leaving the house immaculate in case we get a call for a showing on short notice, and being out of the house by 8:30 a.m. to ensure that my spirited 2 year old won't undo all the hard work I've done the previous night in order to make the house spic and span. I return later in the afternoon in time for Leo's nap, cook dinner, and wake Leo up in time to play with daddy once he's home from work. Then I clean up in preparation of potential showings the following day. It's been hard keeping the house showable all the time with 2 little ones, but I am trying my best to stay positive and not to take any negative feedback personally. As a homemaker, my home is such an expression of me and my family that I've had a difficult time detaching. A few weeks ago we were told we were going to have a showing, so I cleaned the house by myself with both boys (while Ben was at work), met him at a restaurant with the boys for dinner, pushed the boys around in a stroller past their bedtime, only to return home to find that the people who were supposed to see the house drove by and didn't even come in! We've had a lot of disappointments lately, but I am trying to take the blows gracefully, while trying to keep things in perspective and feel grateful for what I do have (i.e. a roof over my head, a great family, and wonderful friends and family members who offer us shelter when we need to be out of our house for showings). I would be most grateful to my readers if you'd keep the sale of our home and the relocation of our family in your prayers. We've even ordered one of these and ceremoniously planted it in our yard. Good St. Joseph pray for us!

I think the pictures of your house are lovely, I can't imagine my house ever approaching that level of put-together-ness! I cannot believe people would have bad things to say about the inside of it - I don't know the outside situation - but if your house were in Anchorage and I was looking, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

Your home is so beautiful, Rebecca. You do an amazing, admirable job of making it homey and neat--a much, much better job than I do!

God's timing is not our own! The sale of this house in in His hands and He already has the perfect family all picked out.
