So as you know, we got the house! Ben, his father, a friend of his father's, his brother, and sister have been busy painting rooms and gutting the kitchen. I'll admit it's been exhausting watching the boys by myself every weekend so close to the end of my pregnancy, but it's been really neat to see how quickly everything is coming along. It will likely be several weeks before we can move in, but that will give us time to adjust to having a newborn.
3 of the bedrooms have been painted so far. As many of you know, the condition the house was left in was poor...a few of the rooms having graffiti written on the walls...I never was really able to picture it looking different, and I was secretly wondering if we'd truly ever be able to make it our own. Would I always look at the room that had the strange fairy graffiti on it and call it the "fairy room?" (laugh) It's laughable now, but at the time before the renovations were made, I'll admit that I thought about these things a lot...
Now we're at the point where it's finally beginning to come into its own, the funky smell is gone, and I'm actually beginning to envision our growing family living there...

For the kitchen, Peter was kind enough to take me to the lumber yard to meet with Dusty to try to pick out some cabinets. To make a long story short, it was really tough to envision what I wanted that was in our budget...I had chosen a color I liked, but it was hard to picture if the stain would look good on the specific cabinet design I liked...it felt like too big of a gamble just to 'go for it' without seeing a sample...Julius was getting really cranky, and Peter was so patient. He told me that we should stop by a kitchen he just put in so I could see some cabinets. They were different from the ones I had initially chosen, but when I walked in, I LOVED the look of it! And they were a lot less expensive than the other ones I had thought I liked but couldn't envision. Julius at this point was really in need of a nap and screamed bloody murder the entire 5 minute car ride home...but I am so thankful to Peter for his patience and his thoughtfulness.
The cabinets have been ordered, but they won't arrive for another few weeks. So I took some "Before" shots of what the kitchen looked like when we bought the house and some "Preview After" shots of the same cabinets we ordered (just shown in the model kitchen Peter and I looked at)...

When I googled the name & make of our cabinets, this image came up.
Thanks so much to Peter, Ben, Mike, Josie, and friends (you know who you are) who've dedicated so much time and effort into helping make this possible. Those who know us know that it's been a LONG road for us. I can't believe we finally sold our house and bought a place we'll be able to love for a very long time!

Oh it's coming together so nicely! Beautiful paint colors, and I love the cabinets. I hope you are able to rest here and there- I can only imagine how exhausted you must be.
Looks good! So glad it's coming together for you!!! I can't wait to see it in person! I remember how difficult it was for me to envision what our house would look like after the renovations! It comes together piece by piece and once it's done, you no longer look at it the way it looked before hand!
Looks good and fun!!!
Wow!!! This is so exciting! Everything looks wonderful.
What wonderful renovations! This is going to be great.
