The Boys' Room

Some people have been asking about the boys' sleeping arrangements, so I thought I'd post some pictures. Living in a 2-bedroom apartment, we've had to make the most of our space!
I think we've done a pretty good job!

In the living room, the boys have their train table which is probably their all-time favorite toy...

Then in their bedroom, they have another table which holds their play Church and their wooden fire station (thanks Grandma Jeannie & Jimmo!)

...and then my father and his wife Deborah got them an activity table which was much needed. The Christmas prior, my father and his wife got Leo the play kitchen, which is still a favorite for both boys...

The boys began sharing a room a few months ago, and so far it has worked out really well. Given the amount of space we have to work with, their bedroom must also act as their toy room. So Ben had the idea that it might be a wise idea to find "loft style" bunk beds - the idea being that Leo would sleep on the top, and we could use a crib or a pack-n-play for the "bottom bunk" until Jules was old enough to sleep in a twin bed without us having to worry about him climbing out of it and/or injuring himself. Once he's old enough for a twin bed, we'll just slide the twin bed underneath the bunk where the pack-n-play is now...

Ben found these bunk beds on Craigslist, and we paid practically nothing for them (though we opted NOT to take the mattresses). Peter, my father-in-law, was kind enough to sand and refinish them for us. One would never know they once had writing on them! Don't they look nice and new?

When we move into our new home, it will probably feel MASSIVE in comparison! I hope we're still able to stick to such an organized system once we have more room for "stuff" :-) I've actually come to like living in a smaller space, because I've found that even though things can seem messier during the day, once the boys are in bed, clean up moves along pretty quickly. Last night I was able to vacuum the entire apartment in 20 minutes!

What a beautiful set-up! You are so blessed to have a FIL that is talented and generous with his time that way.
