Our dear friends Michael and Adrianne Niall welcomed their second child into the world on Wednesday night - James Raphael. He is cute as can be, and looks just like their 3-year-old daughter! I had the pleasure of driving their daughter to the hospital to meet her new baby brother for the first time. It was an exciting car ride for both of us! Their 3-year-old daughter kept asking me to drive faster! She was so excited to meet 'Sweet Baby James' (my new nickname for him). He is a total cutie. On the cutie meter he's a definite 10. And did I mention the boy weighed 10 lbs, 10 oz!!!??? This week two of my friends have had babies born over 10 pounds!

The Niall family came back from the hospital to the comfort of their own home this afternoon. I went over and delivered dinner. I left some for Ben so he'd have some when he got home from work since I left for the Niall's house before he got home. I made spinach ricotta ravioli with a salad and some buttermilk biscuits. Pictured below is Ben's portion:

While I was there I helped sort and fold some clothes. At one point, Michael (Adrianne's husband) took Leo and put him in James' sling.

A note to all my readers out there who happen to be husbands: Michael Niall was able to do the dishes with an 18 pound baby strapped to him, while tending to his recovering wife and 3-year-old daughter. Truly amazing! I made him pose for a picture so we wives can show our husbands this beautiful image!
As another note to my male readers, I'd like to offer some womanly advice. After your wife has a baby, anything you do to help her around the house will mean the world to her. Even if it seems small to you, it will seem huge to her. Mark my word. Thanks to my friend Katherine for recommending Pope Pius XII's eloquent collection of essays entitled "Dear Newlyweds." In one of his lectures to newly married couples, Pope Pius XII encourages husbands to learn how to cook and clean so that they can be of great assistance to their wives in times of need, such as after having a baby.
Congratulations to the Niall family! May God Bless 'Sweet Baby James!'

James does look just like his sister!
Kudos to Adrianne's husband!
what wonderful friends you are. Did I mention that James is a very lucky boy to have such super parents and sister? His cheeks may already be rivalling Leo's:-) BTW
Peace to you all,
