Every year the school at our church invites St. Nicholas to come and visit with the children. He tells the REAL story of St. Nicholas and gives the children gold chocolate coins since tradition has it that St. Nicholas was known for leaving gold coins in the shoes of children.
Now I had been building this up all day, telling Leo that we were going to be visiting St. Nicholas in the afternoon. He seemed SO excited. Then when we arrived at church, Leo wouldn't get out of the car. He threw a tantrum. I gave him three warnings, all of which he disobeyed. So mean mommy that I am, I left him in the car (strapped in his car seat) while Jules and I spent 10 minutes with St. Nicholas. And then meaner mommy that I am, I showed Leo the pictures of Jules sitting on St. Nicholas' lap and I let Jules eat his chocolate coins in front of Leo. There was crying nearly the whole way home on the part of Leo, but hopefully it was a lesson learned. We have been having a beautiful Christmas season thus far, and we're simply not going to let a cranky preschooler rain on our parade!

Beautiful pictures and a great idea! So sorry Leo missed out on the fun, but I do hope too it was a lesson learned!
Ohboy, you're heading into fun obstinate territory. You totally did the right thing - this is the age to learn that actions have consequences. (Says a fellow mean mommy who has eaten cookies in front of her obstinate kid.)
