Now that Leo is actually crawling in front of us, it was easier to capture it on film:

Crawling
Just 1 day prior to his 10 month birthday, Leo crawled in front of us for the very first time! The reason I say "in front of us" is because Leo had been crawling behind our backs for a few weeks before he felt comfortable crawling in front of spectators! For a few weeks I noticed that when I'd put Leo down and walk away for a second, he'd mysteriously be at the other end of the room when I returned. So one day I decided I would trick him, and I pretended to leave the room but really hid and peeped my head in to see him in action. Sure enough, he crawled! I shared this with a friend of mine, and she joked that perhaps Leo is a perfectionist child. Apparently, perfectionist children often reach milestones later because they don't allow themselves to look "stupid" in front of others. Perfectionist? In this family? Gee, I wonder where he gets that from? wink wink ;-)

Rebecca - how wonderful he's crawling - I couldn't be more excited! And yes, I do wonder where on earth he got this perfectionist syndrome? ha ha!! As if we don't know. :) I also notice a few teeth coming in and just like his Mommy he is still a 'bald' baby. He is adorable. Grandma Jeannie told me she was paying you a visit today (Friday) - hope you all have fun and that she is helpful to you. She just adores Leo as you well know. I can't remember if I told you my sister Annie (in the Boone side) was here for a few days and absoluutely fell in love with Leo, as I have a ton of pictures in my library to show off to anyone who will look. Hope all's well with you and Ben. What a great Dad he is, with his roughhousing etc. much love to you, Aunt Cathy xoxo
Such cute crawling! Did he do much of the army crawling phase? John did that for the longest time, hauling around, dragging himself with his arms like his legs were dead wood.
Katherine, yes, Leo was doing the 'army crawl' for a few months before he took off! He would get sooooo frustrated though...he wanted to move so badly, but would keep falling on his belly and crying :-( I felt like I couldn't get anything done, because every time I put him down he'd try to crawl but fall on his belly crying out of frustration instead. It's almost easier now that he's REALLY crawling. I have to keep more of an eye on him, but he generally seems happier now that he's actually able to get to the places he wants to go comfortably!
