Christmas Cards

As most of you already know, I LOVE getting Christmas cards!  I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who sent us cards this year!  We ended up filling three doorways with cards! This year we received 75 Christmas cards and 1,803 Masses!  Thank you!

I like the clever way you display cards! So, how did you receive 1,800 Masses??? Were people giving you like 100 at a shot?

Thanks! Ben's Aunt, Sister Margaret Mary, gave us 900 Masses. Then another friend of us gave us 500 Masses. Then the rest were people giving us 100 Masses, 200 Masses, and single Masses :-)

I guess I don't really understand. Sometimes we have had one Mass said for a person. We pay the priest the $10 offering for the intention of so-and-so on a specific date. But how does somebody give 100 Masses?

Well, the one card we received with the "Spiritual Bouquet of 900 Masses" was from the Capuchin Mission Office in Pittsburgh, PA. Here is a sample of the exact card we received from Ben's Aunt who requested the Masses:

We've also received several hundred masses from the Marians of the Immaculate Conception in Stockbridge, MA. They offer 100 Mass cards, 15 year enrollments, etc.

Oh, I see how that could work. If an entire order is committing and the 100 Masses are spread out over months and years, that makes sense. The really neat thing about such a gift is that as the years are going by, you know that at any given day, a Mass might be being said for you. Who knows what graces you might receive on a tough day or during a trial?!
