*Photo care of Oxiclean
Last night Ben went to make his usual power-smoothie in the blender. He blended together grape juice, all sorts of berries, some raspberry sorbet...

He came into the living room to see me, sat on the couch and poured the smoothie from a Nalgene bottle into a glass to drink some of it. What he didn't realize was that there was still a frozen chunk in the smoothie, so when he poured it, as 'the chunk' fell into his glass, it created a HUGE explosion all over the carpet! The mess was HORRIBLE. I am telling you - we literally could've been in an Oxi-Clean commercial. These were the worst stains imaginable. There were probably 20 red stains on the carpet. We whipped out the Oxi-Clean thinking that it was worth a try, but in the back of our minds both of us were thinking that we'd have to throw away the carpet in the morning. Well, I came downstairs this morning, and all of the stains are gone. It's really nothing short of a miracle. I have to hand it to Oxi-Clean!

So, how did you apply the Oxi-Clean? We have so many old stains in our carpet. Our carpet is just trashed. I feel like I've tried everything and nothing has worked.
I sprayed it directly on the stains. It says on the bottle not to do that, but it always works better for me when I spray it onto the stain directly. We let it sit for about 15 minutes, and then Ben took a wash cloth with warm water and blotted each of the stains (since the rug is way too big to stick in the wash). Also, I should mention that I used the 'regular' Oxyclean spray (as opposed to the one specifically designed for carpets). It worked fine. I think I go through a bottle of that stuff every few months! I spray it on my laundry too. I use the Baby Oxyclean on Leo's laundry. If Oxyclean doesn't work for you, Karen in Maine swears by Carbona Stain Devils. I just noticed them at our grocery store today, but I've never tried them.
I *love* Carbona Stain Wipes for my laundry. I wonder if the Stain Devils are for carpet. I do have a jar of powdered Oxyclean, which I think I can mix with water in a spray bottle to try on the carpet.
