What's for Dinner?

Leg of Lamb.  Grampy and Auntie Josie are coming over for dinner tonight, and I just finished seasoning the Leg of Lamb with garlic salt, canola oil, sesame seeds, fresh rosemary, and celery salt.  I plan to serve it with a fresh salad on the side with crumbled gorgonzola cheese and some buttermilk biscuits.  For dessert, I will serve mango sorbet.  YUM!

You'll have to give me that recipe. I'm making Leg of Lamb for Michael's Birthday next week. I'll have steak but he loves his Lamb.

Hi Adrianne,

I don't really follow a recipe. It's kind of my own concoction! Here's what I do...

First I buy a leg of lamb at the store, and I freeze it. I take it out of the freezer and let it defrost in the fridge the night before I'm going to make it. At around 2:00 in the afternoon (assuming I'm planning on making it for dinner which is around 6:00-6:30 at our house), I take it out of the fridge and let it sit on the counter in the dish I'll eventually put in the oven. Once it has reached room temperature, I rub it with canola oil. Then I season it with a mixture of sea salt, celery salt, garlic salt, fresh ground pepper, sesame seeds, and fresh rosemary. To have it ready by 6:00, I'll preheat the oven to 350 around 4:45 and put it in the oven (meat side down) around 5:00 (or when it beeps to let me know it has preheated). I stick a meat thermometer in it, and cook it for about an hour for medium rare. If you overcook it, it will come out dry. I also baste it with it's own juice a few times while it's in the oven. It's very easy. I'm sure Michael will love it. The scent of the fresh rosemary fills the house which I know Ben appreciates when he walks in the door after a long day of work. Good luck!

I used your recipe for Michael's Birthday dinner lastnight. He loved it. Thanks. He is also really happy with his present. Thanks for the Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska.
